The 65th Congress of the International Police Association, which at the time comprised 69 national sections and of which the IPA Russian Section has been a member since 1992, was held in Lloret de Mar, on Spain’s Costa Brava, from 4 to 9 October 2022. Despite an initiative by the Ukraine, Netherlands and Belgium Sections seeking to exclude the Russian organisation from the international police community, a majority of the countries represented in the vote — 41 of the 61 present — opposed exclusion. The IPA Russian Section therefore retained its place in this respected international community. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation was informed accordingly.

For reference: The All-Russian Police Association, IPA Russian Section, is an international non-governmental organisation with special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The International Police Association has operated since 1950 and currently brings together 69 national sections. In Russia, it is the country’s only public association of police officers supported by all relevant international institutions.
